Amazing testimonial

I recently received the most wonderful testimonial from a Wedding couple I photographed in 2008.
As engaged couples search for a Wedding photographer, I understand how uncertain it can be trying to decide on who would be a good fit for your special day. You can look high and low at all the different photographic styles out there and narrow down the look that you like, but on top of that, it's so important to have someone with you that you enjoy being around. Your photographer is with you ALL day and night. Some, like myself, are thrilled to be there and can't stop smiling and having fun with you, and others will be looking at their watches counting down the hours before it's time to head out. I genuinely love being a part of my couples day and am honored to show them through my pictures, just how beautiful and fun their Wedding was. Thank You Alexis and Darren for this incredible testimonial!

"Dear Sue,
Darren and I are thrilled with our wedding photos and we want to thank you very much for the tremendous job you did capturing our wedding day. We appreciate not only the stylistic approach you brought into your photography, but also the transparent manner in which you took all of our photos. While looking through our photos, Darren and I commented to one another that we never even noticed you taking photos during the ceremony. You have an amazing ability to capture emotion in your photos without invading someone's space.

In addition to your high degree of professionalism, we had a great time with you as well! From the moment you arrived at the hotel where my sisters and I were getting ready through to the end of the reception, we had such a fun time with you. Before our wedding day, we had not given much thought to the fact that as the bride and groom you spend nearly the entire day with your photographer. We could not have picked a better photographer to spend the day with. You were wonderful to have around; your contagious laugh and great personality made the day even more fun.

After our wedding, I showed my hairdresser our wedding pictures and she said that she had never seen such amazing wedding pictures (and she mentioned that she has indeed seen a lot of wedding pictures). She was so impressed by your photos that she asked me for your business cards so she can encourage other brides to use you as their photographer. Darren and I, too, would recommend you highly.

Thanks again, Sue! We hope to see you soon,
Alexis & Darren "

I'm on Facebook!

Click here for my Facebook page

I've been on Facebook for a while now, just for fun and for networking, also as a part of my photography group 'Greater Rochester Professional Photographers'. I finally decided to create a business page and have been working on adding some albums and info to it and as of yesterday, it was published!

Please consider becoming a fan if you're already on Facebook ~ you'll get to hear all the scoop and be a part of an exciting photography network. Plus at some point, I'm sure there will be specials posted and you'll definitely want to take advantage of that too.
Hope to 'see' you!
:)

Two more weeks 'til my first Wedding of the season - very exciting!

Heart Gallery on Oprah!

I am an avid Oprah follower, and was so surprised and exhilarated to watch a story this week about the Heart Gallery; which I am a part of. The Heart Gallery provides professional portraits of children waiting to be adopted through photography shows across America. The story on Oprah was about a little girl who had been rescued after 6 years of being completely neglected by her mother in a devastated home, being completely secluded from any human contact. At 6 years old, her brain functioned like that of a 6 month old baby. It's too sad to go into any further detail about her conditions, so I'd like to focus on the inspiring story that followed her rescue. The couple that has adopted her first saw her picture at a Heart Gallery show. Typically, during the opening of the shows, the children are there to meet and greet and get to know their potential new parents. In this case, the little girl wasn't at the show. The woman saw the little girls portrait from across the room and was instantly drawn to her. Listening to her new parents on the show, I was so moved by the strength and compassion they have to have to protect and raise this little girl. My heart goes out to them, and I thank them so much for giving this little girl a new life filled with love ... something she's never known.

Here is a link to the Oprah show:

I feel SO blessed and honored to participate, as I always have, in this organization, especially now that I've seen just what is possible through these portrait shows they provide. I am so thankful to at least provide the possibility of an adoption through the Heart Gallery.

Happy New Year 2009!

My husband and I enjoying our first New Years as a married couple. FUN! :)

An adorable bride of mine from 2 years ago contacted me wanting to have her little boy photographed for his 1st Birthday! I feel SO lucky being able to share a glimpse into the lives of my amazing couples. Truly honored. It was so great to see them again and to congratulate them on becoming a family.

Happy Holidays!

December was spent processing holiday orders, creating albums, and finishing up the last of my Weddings. Busy, busy, busy!

Here's myself, my husband, and our English springer spaniel, Buddy posing for home made Christmas cards. We put doggie reindeer antlers on him and he froze...LOL. So cute!

We even had a Santa hat for him which we think he liked better

Luckily this year we got SNOW before Christmas so I was able to head out to the slopes with two of my fellow photographer friends, Heather McKay of McKay's Photography, and Kristina Juodyte of Photokisses. We had an amazing time and all know how lucky we are to get away from the computer for a little while during the winter months. It's kind of like teachers getting some time off during the summer after an intensive school year. We work and lose pretty much all of our weekends from April to December, so January to March is our time to play in the snow, make albums, and update all the business stuff we can't do during the summer when we're swamped.
It's so much fun having photography in common with each other too and we have a great time together. :)

We also had a few luncheon get together's to talk 'shop' and get out and about. We're a great group of professionals, and as a reference, we're all a part of The Greater Rochester Professional Photographers (www.grpp.org).

(I'm the 2nd one in from the left with the dark hair)

The tin I'm holding had home made chocolate covered pretzels that I separated into little holiday bags for them each to take home with them. I love to bake and I love to share and who doesn't love these tasty treats! :)

2008 was an amazing year and I'm looking forward to all that's ahead for 2009!
